Q: How does the cost of our system compare to other installations?
A: Our installed system costs less than using GTO, conduit, fittings and other
accessories based on minimum UL/NEC requirements.
Q: Can the POWERBOX™ splice be used with other
types of wiring?
A: Yes, our splice is designed to meet all UL/NEC requirements and it is versatile
enough to use any type of cable or GTO/Conduit.
Q: Why is there not a ground lug on the POWERBOX™?
A: The polymer construction of our splice is a non-conductor and does not
need a separate ground wire. There is a bonding plate inside the splice to
transfer ground from one piece of conduit or neon sign cable to the other.
Q: Do I need a gasket or a seal for the lid when using POWERBOX™ splices
outside?
A: No, you only need to ensure the wiring system coming into our splice is
listed for wet locations and follow the instructions carefully.
Q: Can I use POWERBOX™ splices with any size of transformer?
A: Yes, the 7500 VAC to ground rating allows the use of our splices on secondary
circuits powered by transformers of up to 15,000 volts.
Q: When and why should a high voltage splice be used?
A: High voltage splices are primarily used to make connections in the field
between channel letters that have been pre-wired with pigtails coming from
the back of the letters. This makes installation faster and reduces
neon breakage during installation.
